BCDR’s CEO and chair speak on building synergy between civil and common law

Sheikha Haya Al Khalifa and Professor Nassib G. Ziadé, respectively Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), were members of a panel that discussed institutional perspectives on building synergy between civil and common law at a conference in Dubai on 9 March 2017 organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

The panel discussion highlighted the key role arbitral institutions play in achieving a balance between civil and common law. Chaired by Sheikha Haya Al Khalifa, the panel also included Alec Emmerson, Chief Executive of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Arbitration Institute; Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA); Dr. Habib Al Mulla, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC); and Hicham Zegrary, Secretary General of the Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC); as well as Prof. Nassib G. Ziadé, BCDR-AAA Chief Executive Officer.
