History of the BCDR-AAA

An initiative conceived by Bahrain's Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs and the nation's Economic Development Board, the BCDR-AAA was established by royal decree in 2009, Royal Decree No.(30).

In line with Bahrain's national economic plan, Vision 2030, BCDR-AAA was founded with the aim of providing a strong legal entity to guarantee a safe economic environment and to maintain and attract international trade and investment.

On 11 January 2010, the BCDR-AAA opened its state-of-the-art office for business. Its first case was filed under Section One: Statutory ADR Tribunals the following month on 3 February 2010 and the first award was issued on 7 July 2010. To date, 27 cases have been filed with BCDR-AAA, 13 of which were filed in 2010, worth a total of half a billion US dollars.

As a provider of full ADR services to both regional and international businesses and governments contracting in the Gulf and beyond, BCDR-AAA has built a team of talented professionals to ensure the highest level of international support. This, combined with the development of ground-breaking initiatives, cutting-edge technology and facilities brought in-house, enables the Chamber to successfully deliver dispute resolution that is fast, fair, transparent, cost-effective and binding.
