International arbitration expert lauds Bahrain as a dispute resolution hub at Arbitration Workshop for Public and Private Sector Lawyers and Executives
Tim Martin, one of Canada's leading arbitration experts, identified Bahrain as a key destination in the Middle East for international companies seeking alternative dispute resolution at a 'Workshop on International Arbitration' aimed at the public and private sectors. The session was organised by the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) for an invited audience of senior executives and lawyers from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In regards to the workshop and BCDR-AAA's activity, Tim Martin said: "The BCDR-AAA's unique services, including its free arbitration zone, and its full incorporation of international best practice in alternative dispute resolution makes it a natural hub for commercial disputes in the Gulf and beyond.
In sharing international best practice, the BCDR-AAA is further demonstrating its commitment to working with these sectors to manage and resolve industry related disputes across the Middle East".
Co-sponsored by Blakes, one of Canada's leading law firms with offices around the world, including Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the workshop focused on international arbitration and mediation as key mechanisms for the management of risk and conflicts arising from contracts in international business.
Ahmed Husain, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Registrar Arbitration at the BCDR-AAA, said: "Tim Martin is a world-renowned arbitration expert. We appreciate his involvement in this workshop and his recognition of BCDR-AAA's growing stature.
This workshop is part of BCDR-AAA's ongoing effort to provide senior executives and lawyers from the public and private sectors with the latest in ADR best practices and case studies, and firmly establish Bahrain as the centre for alternative dispute resolution in the Middle East".
The workshop was attended by 22 senior lawyers and executives primarily from the banking and commercial sectors, and provided a comprehensive study of the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in today's society and the advantages of introducing ADR to international business transactions.
It was held in conjunction with the Middle East Prospect Exhibition (MEPEX), to which BCDR-AAA are Diamond Sponsors, and the Middle East Oil & Gas Show (MEOS), which saw over 6,000 visitors, including oil and gas experts, attend in the first two days.
