Shaikha Haya Bint Rashed Al Khalifa to head delegation to International Bar Association Annual Conference

Shaikha Haya bint Rashed Al Khalifa, Chair of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), will head a delegation to the annual International Bar Association Conference in Dubai next week.

The BCDR-AAA are corporate supporters of the IBA five-day Conference, the largest gathering of the international legal community in the world, which is expected to attract 5,000 lawyers and legal professionals from around the world. 

Shaikha Haya bint Rashed Al Khalifa said: "I am proud to be bringing the BCDR-AAA to the IBA Conference in Dubai, the first time this hallmark event for the legal community has come to the Middle East.  It provides a valuable opportunity to showcase the BCDR-AAA's unique offerings to the regional and global community."

In addition to attending the main event, Shaikha Haya bint Rashed Al Khalifa - one of the first women to practice law in Bahrain - will also be hosting the "Arbitral Women Breakfast" event at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where invited guests will have the opportunity to discuss international commercial arbitration in times of rapid change.

Shaikha Haya bint Rashed Al Khalifa, the first Arab woman to be President of the General Assembly of the United Nations and currently Bahrain's representative before the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, said: "I am passionate about improving representation of women in legal circles.  Great strides have been made in the sector and I am looking forward to hosting the Arbitral Women Breakfast event, during which we will discuss international commercial arbitration with pioneering female arbitrators such as Mireille Bouzols Breton, Fiona Campbell, and Nayla Comair-Obei".

The IBA Conference 2011 will take place 30 October to 4 November at the DICEC in Dubai.  BCDR-AAA's delegation also includes James MacPherson, CEO, Ali Al Aradi, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Registrar, and Ahmed Hussain, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Registrar.
