BCDR-AAA - Introduction to International Arbitration Course

As the Middle East's foremost provider of Alternative Dispute Resolution services, the BCDR-AAA, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) - the world's leading professional ADR body - offers the tailor-made ‘Introduction to International Arbitration' course as part of its comprehensive training programme.

The course, launched in October 2010, is designed to provide candidates, new to the field of arbitration, with a thorough insight and understanding of its basic principles, together with a comparison of the main ADR processes: arbitration, mediation and adjudication. Through instruction from some of the world's leading ADR trainers, candidates will gain basic skills and knowledge of the general processes of arbitration and its benefits to users.

The Introduction to International Arbitration course not only provides the perfect platform to those who wish to consider further studies in the field, but also enables each candidate - with the award of the BCDR-AAA's Certificate of Completion - to apply for Associate Member status of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

For those candidates who wish to advance their ADR knowledge and qualifications, the completion of this course will allow them to continue onto Module 1 - Laws of Obligation and Civil Evidence (International Arbitration).

Module 1 - Laws of Obligation and Civil Evidence (International Arbitration):

Designed by the Faculty of Law at the University of Bahrain, in cooperation with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, Module 1 is aimed at candidates - with or without previous legal training - who wish to become qualified arbitrators or adjudicators, and also those with a more general interest in dispute resolution.

Providing a firm grasp and appreciation of the key aspects of the local jurisdiction's legal system, Module 1 offers an invaluable understanding and detail into the approach, obligations, treatment and resolution of situations under dispute. Upon completion of the course, candidates will have full and rounded knowledge of the application of the legal principles and the handling of evidence that may influence, shape or have bearing on how a dispute may be treated and resolved according to the law.

The course is designed to offer a level of knowledge in line with the elements of a first law degree at University level - relevant to alternative dispute resolution processes - to encompass the obligations and evidential law relating to civil and commercial disputes.
