BCDR’s CEO and chair speak on building synergy between civil and common law

Sheikha Haya Al Khalifa and Professor Nassib G. Ziadé, respectively Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), were members of a panel that discussed institutional perspectives on building synergy between civil and common law at a conference in Dubai on 9 March 2017 organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

New draft arbitration rules for the BCDR

The current Arbitration Rules of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) were adopted in 2010 and were closely modeled on the then-existing arbitration rules of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). Since the adoption of the BCDR-AAA’s current rules, a number of arbitration institutions (including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in 2012, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) in 2014, and the ICDR itself in 2014) have issued new arbitration rules. New UNCITRAL arbitration rules for ad hoc arbitration proceedings were also adopted in 2010.

Fourth issue of the BCDR International Arbitration Review published in memory of Dr. Ibrahim F. I. Shihata

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) has released the fourth issue of the BCDR International Arbitration Review in memory of Dr. Ibrahim F. I. Shihata, former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the World Bank, and former Secretary-General of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). 

BCDR CEO hosts the signing of Marike Paulsson’s book “The 1958 New York Convention in Action”

Nassib G. Ziadé, the CEO of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), hosted a book signing event of Marike Paulsson’s book “The 1958 New York Convention in Action” at his residence in Georgetown, Washington, DC. Leading international arbitration specialists who were present in Washington, DC for the 2016 IBA annual conference attended the event.
